2019 Package Pickup

Saturday, April 20, 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Reunion Farm

The annual PCBA Package Pickup Event is scheduled for Saturday, April 20 at Reunion Farm, 271 Main Street, Plympton, which is located at the corner of Route 58 (Main St) and Mayflower Rd, at the light.  Pickup hours will be from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.  No early birds, and please, don’t be late.  If you are not going to be available, you MUST make arrangements to have someone else pick up your bees.  There will be a $5 handling fee, per package, for every package that we have to bring home – no exceptions. We will be making phone calls while we are still there, but at 2:00 PM we will pack up and return to our own apiaries to do our own installs. If you can’t be there, get someone to do it for you (as many of you have already done). Any handling fees collected will go to the club.

This is an extremely large pick up to organize. Please understand we are going to have to manage traffic flow, both cars and people – this is someone’s home and it is near a major intersection.  I know we’re all busy and have things to do on a Saturday in Spring, but if you could not all show up at once – and please don’t show up early!  Remember it’s best to install the bees later on in the afternoon, keeps them closer to their new home for that first night.

There will be live package installation demos at 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM, if the weather cooperates. Please note that package installation observers must wear a veil. Also, there are several videos of past demos available on the club’s YouTube channel at PCBA Package Installation Demos. Watching the videos and a live demo will help those who are doing their first package install to plan their moves and go into the process with confidence.
